Buying baby headbands online, FAQ
Recently, we have been looking at various places where you can buy baby hair bands and we have discovered that there is enormous amount of these hair accessories available online. Taking that into account, we have decided to write a short article about how to choose the best or the most suitable headband, for your child from a suitable online retailer.
To start with I would like to say that the purpose of this article is to provide useful information to any consumer. We will not try to market any particular brand name, shop or style. We want to share our expertise in the field of children’s hair accessories, and hopefully offer valuable advice to any mums, grandmas or even grandpas.
If you are reading this article it is very much likely you are looking for a baby headband or a similar hair accessory online. It is much easier to make a decision when you can see, touch and feel the actual product; online purchases are quite different in this case. There are a lot and I mean really a lot of online stores where you can buy baby hair bands online. Amazon, eBay, Etsy and so on and so forth, you can find a lot of smaller companies selling these hair accessories too. So, how to decide where and what to buy? Your decision needs to include the following factors – shop’s (or any online retailer’s) reputation, product description and perhaps geographical location.
First of all, let’s start with a reputation as this is one of the most important factors in this case. Any online merchant cares about reputation as online reputation makes or breaks the business (as some people say). We have noticed that a lot of people pay attention to eBay seller’s accumulative feedback rather that the feedback related to specific products. Please try to find a feedback related to the product you are interested in if you are buying on eBay. This will allow you to prevent disappointing experiences and most likely will save you money and time. We have also found that amazon’s feedback system seems to be a little bit more accurate than the feedback system used by eBay. On amazon you can see feedback for the product you are interested in, although some products do not have relevant feedback (which is a bit disappointing as people should share their experiences related to a product as well as a seller). If you find a hair accessory from a smaller online store, you should simply contact the customer support and ask any questions you might have. All online stores must have good customer support if they care about their online reputation. It is probably not a good idea to buy a product from an online retailer whose customer support does not reply within 24 hours. Please think about a situation when you might want to get a refund and you have to wait “forever” to get a reply from the customer support.
Secondly, a product description is the most important factor from our point of view. Each online retailer needs to provide as much information as possible about their product. You need to make sure that the size of a hair accessory is adequate, colour is exactly the same as the one shown in pictures and materials used are safe for children. Product safety is extremely important!
- Please make sure that you inspect the hair band before you put it on your child’s head. The baby headband must not be too tight as this might cause discomfort or even bruising. Any baby hair band has to be made from soft and stretchy fabric.
- Please pay attention to the way a baby headband is designed, any decorative pieces or parts must be well attached to a hair band. Remember, your child might remove and swallow loose parts. If you are in doubt, simply choose a hair band which does not have decorations attached to it.
The easiest way to find out as much information as possible about the product of interests is to simply contact a customer support or a seller directly.
Finally, geographical location is less relevant when we talk about online purchases made within the same country. It becomes much more important when we talk about international purchases and international postage. Please consider the fact that if you are buying from a seller based in China, India or Vietnam you might have to wait 15 to 30 days to get the hair band. Please also consider the fact that international seller might not be able to describe their product as well as local online merchants and might not be able to provide the same level of customer support. Of course there might be a price difference between your “local” online merchant and the one based abroad, but your decision should not be purely concentrated on a price you pay – your child’s safety should be number one priority.
Always pay attention to online merchant’s reputation – try to find a feedback related to your product(s) of interest and ideally establish seller’s geographical location. Inspect the hair band before you put it on your child’s head; it needs to be well and safely designed. Do not simply make a decision based on a price of a hair accessory. Online retailer’s selling cheaper hair accessories tend to be less responsive and might not be able to provide satisfactory level of customer support.
